Based on the New York Times best selling novel under the same name, The Secret Life of Bees is set in 1964 in rural South Carolina. It's about a 14-year old girl, Lily Owens who is constantly haunted by a memory of her late mother. Lily flees with Rosaleen Daise, her only friend and caregiver to a rural South Carolina town that has a secret of her mother's past. She is taken in by the independent and intelligent Boatwright sisters who are in their own world of beekeeping.
