The only way the curse can be broken is if someone of her own kind accepts her as she is. Her mother takes this to mean that someone from another moneyed family must marry her.
After watching the trailer for Penelope I rented it so that I could watch it with the kids while I was babysitting them. The movie Penelope has an underlying moral message about the danger of being snobbish and superficial. I also enjoyed the fact that this movie starred James McAvoy, since he is one of my favorite contemporary actors.
