The upcoming new movie, Fireproof, opening September 26, is a faith-based marriage drama about a heroic fireman, Captain Caleb Holt (Kirk Cameron) who is  locked in a failing marriage. Holt is given a 40-day challenge by his father which is  designed to teach the husband and wife the true meaning of commitment.

Captain Holt relies on the old firefighter’s adage about never leaving your partner behind when he is battling blazes. His life at home is not the same however, Caleb and his wife Catherine (Erin Bethea) have been married for 7 years and argue over career, housework, finances and outside interests which have driven the once-happy couple far apart.

Just as the couple prepare for divorce, Caleb’s father John (Harris Malcolm) presents his son an unusual challenge called “The Love Dare” and try to save his marriage one last time. This dare is closely entwined in his parent’s new found faith and Caleb is cautious. Holt tries the experiment but is met with rejections by his skeptical, embittered wife. He asks his father how he can love someone who refuses to give him a chance and John tells his son that this is precisely the same love that God shows for man.

With a little help from above, the man who makes headlines for saving lives fights to be a hero to his wife.

This new movie is rated PG, also stars Ken Bevel, Jason McLeod and Stephen Dervan.
